We continue our space theme with an iconic, and incredible, image. This is the famous Pillars of Creation, part of the Eagle Nebula (otherwise known as Messier 16). The Pillars are so-called because they are vast clouds of gas and dust (several light-years across) within which brand-new stars are forming. Within those pillars new solar systems will be born and develop, and perhaps one day in the far future life will emerge on one of those worlds, and look out at the stars in our direction and wonder if there is anyone else out there.
