Hubble Ultra Deep Field

As a follow-up to our hubble Telescope wallpaper from earlier, we present this astonishing image taken by the Hubble itself. It may look like an ordinary starfield but it is so much more. Within this image, which shows a tiny patch of sky in the constellation Fornax, lie some of the most distant galaxies ever observed. In fact, this patch of sky was thought to be almost empty until this image was taken. Every single object in this image is a distant galaxy, some of them are over 13 billion light years away. It is estimated that this image contains 10,000 galaxies, and this is only a tiny part of the wider sky. This amazing wallpaper provides a humbling and unique reminder of just how small we really are.
