Ah, the A-10A Warthog. Quite possibly the ugliest warplane ever to fly. But there is a good reason this ugly bird still serves: it’s so damn good at it’s job. It doesn’t need to be beautiful to wow the crowds, not when it’s combat record speaks for itself. The plane itself is built around a massive 30mm gatling cannon that can rip through tanks like tissue paper. The wings have no grace and the huge engines look like afterthoughts, but it is incredibly robust. Pilots have managed to land Warthogs with half a wing blown away and an engine missing, they’re just that tough. This great wallpaper shows a typical Warthog wreathed in smoke from firing it’s big cannon.
